The only thing that is holding you back from getting clean and sober is YOU!
You can wish and dream that you were sober, but that fact of the matter is, how bad do you want to change your life? Are you willing to never pick up an alcoholic drink again for the rest of your life?
Alcohol addiction is nothing to fool around with because those demons will indeed hold you hostage for the rest of your life if you allow them to do so. You must stand up to the addiction that will put you to rest sooner or later.
You have to be serious about getting clean and sober and not just say "I will stop drinking alcohol for a week or two or even a month," and then once you prove to yourself you can stop drinking you go right back to your old ways of drinking and abusing alcohol.
Addiction is no laughing matter nor is it a game we play. This so called game is between you and your demons, and believe me, your demons WILL WIN if you allow them.
If you don't believe me then just try sobriety out. You might just fall in love with it and wonder why you have been abusing alcohol for so many years.
Just make up your mind once and for all that you want to change your life and then take the action to make it happen. Really getting sober is not that hard. Once you have made up your mind and have promised yourself you will never tough a drop of alcohol for the rest of your life, you will be on the road to recovery and a life of sobriety.
NOTE: There is no cheating whatsoever once you have decided to get sober. None of this crap like, there is a party coming up and you think you can have a drink or two and then go back to sobriety again. That will never work my friends!
You can make sobriety a reality with some hard work, determination and the willingness to get sober. Granted this will not be easy, but is very possible if you give sobriety a chance.
In the beginning, for myself, it was like torture having no alcohol in my body, but I had to stick to my promise of not drinking alcohol ever again. As the days passed by and when I woke up in the morning and said to myself, "well I made it sober one more day!"
You have to realize we as alcoholics need to take ONE DAY AT A TIME and before you know it you will be sober for a month, then a year and then you will be counting the years sober as I am right now while writing this post.
So don't wonder what it will be like days, weeks or months from now. Concentrate on today! Take one day at a time and never look back at your past of drinking and getting drunk and all those SO CALLED fun times you had.
The fun times in my life drinking alcohol were really not fun at all. I sure don't miss having that huge hangover and feeling like crap each and every morning. How about you, do you think you would miss that if you were clean and sober? Heck no, you wouldn't miss feeling like crap, I can bet on it.
So the only way to never feel like crap from drinking too much alcohol is very simple, you just don't drink and your problem is solved?
Keep a positive attitude at all times while you are trying to stay sober and never let anyone or anything make you go back to your old ways, no matter what happens. You are stronger than your addiction and keep telling yourself that and you will beat the demons within you, trust me!
While writing this post I am just thinking of my drinking days and telling myself, "I must of been some kind of idiot for abusing my one and only body for all those years!"
None of us are stupid, nor are we idiots. We all have minds and brains and know what is right and wrong, so stand up to your addiction and seek sobriety in your life and make it long term sobriety. You will never regret quitting drinking, and once you feel that life of sobriety you will ask yourself, "why did I drink alcohol to begin with?"
MY NEW GRANDSON LUCAS. WHY IN WORLD DO WE DRINK AND ABUSE ALCOHOL AND TAKE THAT CHANCE OF DYING BECAUSE OF IT, AND THEN MAYBE MISS OUT ON THINGS SO PRECIOUS AS THIS?

Your journey is a noble and honorable one. Keep up the good work, Mark. :)
